Jacob Holloman Praised as Hero After Pulling Woman From Burning Car in Clarke County Crash

 A serious crash in Clarke County has drawn attention not only for the violent vehicle fire that followed, but also for the quick actions of a local man who authorities say helped save a life before emergency crews fully arrived at the scene.

Officials reported that the crash occurred around 4:40 p.m. Friday along Highway 512 near the Highway 18 West area. Emergency responders, including volunteer fire departments and law enforcement agencies, were dispatched after reports of a major collision involving at least one vehicle that quickly caught fire.

According to Clarke County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Andy Lafferty, the situation escalated rapidly as flames spread through the wreckage. Before first responders could secure the scene, Jacob Holloman, a local plumber and employee of Environment Masters Inc., came upon the crash and immediately stopped to help.

Witness accounts and authorities say Holloman did not hesitate before moving toward the burning vehicle. One young woman was still trapped inside as fire and smoke intensified, creating a dangerous and rapidly deteriorating situation that left little time for hesitation.

Deputy Lafferty said Holloman managed to pull the woman from the vehicle moments before it became fully engulfed in flames. Officials noted that his intervention likely prevented a far worse outcome, given how quickly the fire consumed the car shortly afterward.

By the time law enforcement arrived, the vehicle was already heavily damaged and engulfed, with thick smoke still rising from the wreckage. Responding officers immediately shifted focus to confirming whether anyone else was trapped inside.

Holloman also took additional steps to protect the injured woman while they waited for emergency medical crews, positioning his work vehicle to shield her from heat and debris as responders worked to secure the scene and assess injuries.
