Maurice earned tremendous respect as the head coach of men’s basketball at Community Christian College, where he focused on more than just winning games. He viewed basketball as an impactful means to impart lessons on responsibility, resilience, teamwork, and faith. Under his guidance, young men were inspired to develop not only as athletes but also as scholars and individuals of strong ethics. In addition to his role in college sports, Maurice owned Detroit Sports World, reflecting his entrepreneurial spirit and profound passion for sports culture. Maurice took pride in being an alumnus of The University of Olivet, where he majored in fitness management and sport management. He maintained a close bond with Olivet throughout his life and was an active member of the Mu Omega Pi fraternity. After his passing, fraternity advisors and brothers expressed their heartfelt condolences, commemorating Maurice as a “Comet forever,” and recognizing his tenacity, loyalty, and steadfast commitment to his fraternity.
