Jahmez Cartwright Disappeared: Family from Southwest Philadelphia Urgently Requests Assistance in Finding Critically Missing Individual

Jahmez Cartwright Missing – The relatives of Jahmez Cartwright, an 18-year-old from Southwest Philadelphia, are urgently calling for public help following his disappearance on Monday, January 12, 2026. Jahmez departed his residence that morning with the intention of attending school but failed to show up. His family expresses heightened concern due to his cognitive disorder, which limits his mental capabilities to those of a child, making him significantly at risk and in need of care.

Jahmez was seen for the last time exiting the 6500 block of Linmore Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia. It is believed he was attempting to board a SEPTA trolley to Hardy Williams High School, where he is enrolled as a student. When he did not arrive at school and did not return home, his family quickly became alarmed, leading them to notify law enforcement of his disappearance.

He is characterized as being 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing around 120 pounds, with curly black hair and brown eyes. When he was last observed, Jahmez was dressed in a black coat, dark blue jeans, and possibly black-and-white Rick Owens sneaker boots. There have been no verified sightings of him since that day.

The inquiry took a significant turn the following day when officials located Jahmez's cellphone. On Tuesday, January 13, it was reported that his phone was detected in San Diego, California—over 2,500 miles away from his home in Philadelphia. This unexpected news has sparked serious worries regarding how he could have traveled such a vast distance and whether his safety is compromised.

Moreover, the Black and Missing Foundation has reported indications that Jahmez might have been enticed to the West Coast by an older individual he encountered through the online gaming site Roblox. Investigators are currently looking into his internet interactions to identify any contacts he may have had before going missing. The Philadelphia Police are collaborating with authorities in San Diego, seeking legal permissions to delve into digital communications and potential online relationships.

According to the most recent updates, there have been no confirmed physical sightings of Jahmez since he left home. His family persists in their efforts to raise public awareness and seek assistance, wishing that heightened attention will generate information that will lead to his safe return.

Authorities emphasize that time is of the essence in cases of missing individuals, particularly when the person is deemed vulnerable. Community members and anyone possessing relevant information are encouraged to step forward without delay.
