Brittany Woodard, Boyd Buchanan School Passes Away: Chattanooga, TN Community Remembers 3rd Grade Educator

 CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Chattanooga area is mourning the unexpected loss of Brittany Woodard, a cherished third-grade teacher at Boyd Buchanan School, who passed away on Tuesday morning due to an incident on Woodard Circle. Her death has brought sorrow to students, fellow teachers, parents, and friends.

Woodard was celebrated for her warmth, unwavering dedication, and profound devotion to her students. She taught third grade at Boyd Buchanan School and was greatly respected for her kindness, positivity, and zeal for advocating for the children she worked with.

Hailing from Wetumpka, Alabama, Woodard completed her education at Wetumpka High School before attending Auburn University at Montgomery. She subsequently created her life and career in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she resided with her spouse, Henry Woodard.

In an official statement, Boyd Buchanan School conveyed their deep sadness regarding her passing:

“Our school community is grieving the unforeseen loss of Brittany Woodard, a treasured member of our team. We encourage our community to unite in prayer as we search for solace and tranquility during this challenging period.”

The school has organized a prayer vigil to commemorate Woodard’s life and contributions, set to take place on Wednesday, January 14, at 5:30 p.m. in the Jett Gymnasium. The vigil will also be available for live streaming on the school’s website at bbschool.org by choosing “Livestream.” The school requested that the community continues to keep Woodard’s family, students, and faculty in their prayers.

Messages of tribute from parents and community members highlight the significant influence Woodard had on her students. Nellionna Knox Kennedy, a parent of one of Woodard’s students, expressed a heartfelt tribute.

“We are completely heartbroken by the loss of Caydence’s third-grade teacher, Brittany Woodard,” Kennedy remarked. “She was genuinely the sweetest person with the most radiant smile and laugh. She was Caydence’s strongest advocate regarding his ADHD and speech. I will always be thankful for her. We will miss her dearly. The hallways and car rider line will feel different without her.”

As the Chattanooga community unites in its sorrow, Brittany Woodard is being remembered as an extraordinary teacher, a devoted wife, and an individual whose compassion and commitment had a profound effect on many lives. Brittany Woodard was also a caring mother of two and a wonderful wife to Henry Woodard.
